this is how it started

November, 22, 2022: My cousin’s mom used to work at Pennants Basic School and when she heard that i was interested in working with Jamaican kids, she invited me out. I started out reading stories to the children then it evolved to visiting 1 day a week to play with them. We played all kinds of games. From jumping on the tires to hide-and-seek, to imaginatory games, to interacting with nature, etc.

I noticed the children were craving adults to really see👀 and value them as well as play with them so I filled the needs. In addition to tending to their difficult emotions, we got curious about nature and we delighted in eating fresh seasonal fruits together.

Through this process, I got to witness shy introverted kids become more confident, outgoing and some naturally helping the younger ones.

Our children are our future and I would like to see each child grow into their full potential. This inspired me to create more access and removing barriers for them to have a chance.

Today we have a team of volunteers working towards this vision.
